The Different Types of Yoga Retreats
Whether you’re a yoga newbie or have been practicing yoga for many years, a yoga retreat is an amazing experience perfect for anyone. But there are many different types of yoga retreats, so how do you know which one is the best fit for you?
Below, we’ll cover some of the most common types of yoga retreats/yoga styles and who they are best for. You’ll be able to make a better choice about which type is right for you.
Resort and Spa Yoga Retreat
Many yoga retreats will take place at vacation resorts. Most of our yoga experiences Blue Karma Resort fall under this category. They usually involve yoga classes once a day along with other services, such as spa treatments and healthy meals. Our Yogis Inner Journey retreat is a good example of this, as it includes a spa treatment, breakfast buffet, complimentary walk through the Bali rice paddies, and a welcome drink upon arrival.
Resort yoga retreats are great for anyone who wants to get their daily dose of yoga “om” while also getting to enjoy other activities in the area and in the resort.
Intensive Yoga Retreat
For those who want a more intense yoga experience, you can look for a retreat that has more than one yoga class per day. These often include meditation classes or a deeper focus on the whole yoga experience.
Intensive yoga retreats can either take place at a resort or at a location specifically chosen for the yoga retreat, such as a beautiful area near water, in the mountains, or amongst other nature.
Yoga Immersion Retreat
Yoga immersions are usually much more structured than other retreat types and are held at more permanent locations. Often, participants do yoga at least each morning and night. Meditation is included, as well.
A yoga immersion typically focuses more fully on the whole experience of yogi living. For example, our Yoga and Ayurveda Immersion includes an Ayurvedic lifestyle consultation, which helps you better understand your personality and constitution related to your yoga practice. You’ll also learn about pranayama breathing (yoga breathing) to bring more balance to your life.
Yoga Adventure Retreat
These often combine yoga with other exciting activities in the area, such as hiking, surfing, paddle boarding, or biking. You’ll be able to nurture both your mind and body while getting away from the world in a beautiful setting. This is great for anyone interested in a more active retreat.
Detox Yoga Retreat
For those who want to really “reset” and detox their body, a detox yoga retreat is perfect for cleansing the mind and body. It usually includes yoga at least once a day plus meditation, raw food or juices cleanses, and detoxing spa treatments. We offer all of this through our Detox Luxury Retreat.
